Women who take part in construction face challenges and obstacles, but they're not going away anytime soon. These powerful, inspirational women are making an impact on the industry AND in our communities by breaking through barriers that were once considered insurmountable for them and proving their value.
Darlene Eckert (pictured first on the left), Retail Market Manager at Synovus, also serves on Habitat South Sarasota’s Board of Directors as Vice President and she shares what motivates her to help build Habitat homes:
“What I love about #WomenBuild is having the opportunity to see those in the program while working alongside of them at the build and hearing their stories and excitement about becoming homeowners. It’s such a feel-good for me -- knowing that we are making a difference in the family’s life, to be able to say they have a safe and healthy place to come home to at the end of every day! And it’s such an inspiration to see the pride that comes with knowing they worked for it every step of the way as well.” -Darlene Eckert
As more women break barriers in the construction industry, it is important to remember the girls and young women who look up to them. These role models are changing the game for future generations of girls, showing them that they can do anything they set their minds to. We are grateful for these trailblazers – they are paving the way for a brighter future.
